Shopify Checklist for eCommerce Business Owners

It doesn’t matter if you’re a grizzled veteran or a wet-behind-the-ears eComm store owner, these marketing tips & tricks for boosting eComm sales are for you.

Read ‘em… and watch your conversions explode.

Orrrrrrrr, don’t read them… and weep.

So, first things first. When you think about marketing, what comes to mind – a creative logo, a pretty landing page, eye-candy branding???

TRUTH BOMB: While time and energy should be given to these marketing elements, they’re really just fluffy icing on the cake of your marketing strategy.

Stunning logos and clever branding might bring buyers to the yard, but it won’t be what motivates them to “add to cart”.

Marketing strategies that are based on data will outperform those solely focused on what “looks good”.

Why take a risk on what might work when data tells you what will work?

But let’s not get the cart before the horse here.

Make sure you have a quality product and an enticing offer before relying on data as your marketing strategy compass rose.

Otherwise, data is just, well… data.

Now, assuming that your product(s) and promotions are the best thing since grandma’s sugar cookies and you’re trusting the data (over your gut) when making business decisions, there is one more critical element of your marketing strategy that shouldn’t be overlooked – customer service.

In addition to caring about your product, brand, and overall business infrastructure, show your customers you care about them by serving them well.

Quality customer service is one of the most effective ways to retain customers for the long haul.

Now that we’ve addressed the big-picture core components of a good marketing strategy…

      • Rely on data (not what “looks good”) to create your marketing strategy.
      • Offer a quality product with an enticing offer.
      • Provide excellent customer service.

… let’s hone in on some specific marketing tips & tricks that will boost your eComm sales.

Marketing Tips & Tricks to Boost eComm Sales

      • Understand their pain points and demonstrate how your product(s) is the solution they’re looking for.
      • Learn their lingo and use it in your marketing message.
      • When talking to your audience, don’t focus on yourself and/or your product features (I hate to break it to you, but they really don’t care. There, I said it.). Instead, tell them how your product/service is going to solve their problem. They want to know what’s in it for them
  •
      • Use the AIDA formula when creating your marketing copy.
          • A – ATTENTION: Get their attention.
          • I – INTEREST: Build their interest in your product.
          • D – DESIRE: Show them how your product can solve their problem.
          • A – ACTION: Literally tell them what to do.
      • Keep it simple – having too many options overwhelms shoppers. Confused buyers don’t buy.
      • Offer a clear CTA (call to action) – believe it or not, customers want to be told what to do.
      • Take customer service seriously. Be intentional in the way you care for your customers.
      • Don’t be afraid to use a variety of marketing tools and services to grow and scale your business.
